We are seeking a GIS Project officer to work with us in the Forest Policy Branch within the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Change (DEECA). The successful candidate will have extensive experience managing spatial data and information and developing maps and preparing reports and plans that contribute to forest management.
The Forest Regulatory Design team is strongly people focussed and supportive. We are looking for someone who works well with others and wants to make a difference for the environment.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in geomatics, geography/cartography, GIS, data science, or a similar discipline is desirable.
  • Intermediate to advanced capability in automated spatial data processing and general programming, including understanding of the spatial algorithms and data structures behind typical GIS software tools and experience in the creation of spatial data processing scripts using Python, ArcPy and/or SQL is desirable.
  • Experience in using, analysing, manipulating and querying data held in spatial and non-spatial databases is desireable.
This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2023. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria.
